STEENWEG 1
Old House of Aldermen. This 13th-14th century Gothic building in white sandstone may be the oldest brick-built town hall in Flanders. From 1471 to 1616 it was the meeting place of the Great Council, the highest court in The Netherlands. Now it is part of a group of museums in Mechelen, together with the Hof van Busleyden and the Brusselsepoort.
